2024 Fall Learning in Our Homeschool

By October 19, 2024 No Comments

As the crisp fall air rolls in and the leaves start to change, it’s the perfect time to shake up our homeschool routine with some seasonal learning. Fall is one of our favorite times of the year, not just because of the cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice everything, but because there’s something about this season that sparks creativity in our homeschool.

This year, we’ve gathered a collection of fun and educational resources to keep our learning exciting. I’m sharing what we’re using for fall in our homeschool and how it’s been working for us.

The secret search curriculum

1. The Secret Search

We’re kicking off fall with The Secret Search, and let me tell you, this has been a game-changer for us. It’s a unique blend of learning and adventure that my kids have absolutely loved. Imagine combining a mystery story with hands-on activities that help develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills—that’s The Secret Search in a nutshell.

The best part? The kids don’t even realize how much they’re learning because they’re so caught up in solving puzzles and cracking codes. It’s a great way to keep their minds active while fostering teamwork. This has been perfect for those cozy afternoons when we want to settle into something engaging but different from our usual lessons.

Lights, Camera, Literature movie studies

2. Lights, Camera, Literature Movie Studies

Fall is the perfect time to snuggle up with a good movie, so we’ve been using Lights, Camera, Literature movie studies to enhance our learning. This has allowed us to combine film analysis with literature, and it’s been a fun way to explore storytelling in a different medium. We’re currently studying The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and it’s sparked so many great discussions about the themes, characters, and story elements.

Each movie study comes with activities and worksheets that help break down the movie into learning opportunities. And, of course, we love adding in themed snacks to make our movie nights extra special!

Fall-themed educational activities

3. Fall Homeschool Ideas Printable

This year, I created a Fall Homeschool Ideas printable, and it’s become our go-to for easy seasonal activities. It’s full of ideas that range from fall-themed crafts to outdoor adventures. Whenever we need a break from our core curriculum, this printable offers plenty of creative ways to bring a touch of fall into our homeschool day.

4. Clue Escape Games

Board games are a staple in our homeschool, and this fall, Clue Escape Games have been our top choice for game-based learning. These games take the classic Clue game we all know and love and turn it into an escape room experience! The puzzles challenge my kids’ critical thinking and logic skills while giving us quality family time.

There’s something about working together to solve a mystery that brings out the best in everyone, and it’s a sneaky way to incorporate learning into our downtime. The kids are having so much fun, they forget that they’re practicing problem-solving and teamwork!

We’re just getting started with our fall learning, but I’m already looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds. The great thing about the resources we’re using is that they’re flexible enough to adapt to our family’s needs. I can see us continuing to use these tools well into the winter months, and I’m excited to explore even more seasonal activities.

How do you incorporate fall into your homeschool? I’d love to hear what activities and resources you’re using this season! Let me know in the comments, and let’s swap some ideas to make this fall the best one yet.
