There’s something so magical about the season—the crisp air, the vibrant leaves, the cozy vibes. I thought it would be fun to put together a Fall prep kit with all my favorites, so we can start embracing the season early. Here’s a list of my favorite fall movies, drinks, books, activities, and decorating ideas. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Fall Movies
This blog post is about my fall prep kit for 2024.
Nothing sets the fall mood like a good movie night. Here are my top picks:
- Arsenic and Old Lace – It’s got that perfect mix of mystery and old-fashioned charm, plus it’s just a fun classic for cool autumn nights.
- The Lord of the Rings – This movie is one of my daughters favorites. She watches it with her grandparents every time she gets.
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – A nostalgic classic that brings back childhood memories.
- A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving – Another classic that makes Fall complete.
- Great American Family fall movies – All of them make me happy! They capture the spirit of the season with heartwarming tales and picturesque settings, making them perfect for family movie nights.
- The Odd Life of Timothy Green – A wonderful choice, with its magical, heartwarming story set against a beautiful autumn backdrop.
- Clue – For a fun twist, Clue brings a mix of mystery and comedy.
Fall Drinks
Fall flavors are the best flavors. Here are my go-to drinks to warm up and cool down with:
- Dirty Chai – Spicy chai with a shot of espresso. It’s the perfect blend of kick and comfort. Yum!
- Salted Caramel Mocha – Sweet, salty, and oh-so-delicious. This is one of my favorites from Starbucks.
- Pumpkin Spice Chai – Because you can’t have Fall without a little pumpkin spice. My new favorite from Starbucks. Hot or iced it’s perfect!
- Apple Cider – Hot or cold, it’s a fall staple. We grab a few gallons from our favorite apple picking farm every year.
- Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate – Rich, decadent, and perfect for chilly evenings. I drank this from Starbucks all throughout my pregnancies instead of coffee and have been hooked every since.

Fall Reading
Curling up with a good book is one of the best parts of fall. These books arent necessarily fall themed but I looked forward to curling up in a blanket to read these:
- No Less Days by Amanda G. Stevens – A man with a secret past encounters others with similar mysteries.
- Cold Pursuit by Nancy Mehl – FBI agents investigate a deadly conspiracy in a small town.
- The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson – A fantasy adventure series about siblings uncovering secrets that could save their world.
- Holy Hygee by Jamie Erickson – Explores creating a cozy, faith-filled home inspired by the Danish concept of hygge.
Fall Activities
Autumn would not be complete without doing these activities:
- Apple Picking – There’s nothing like a day at the orchard. We’ve been to the same orchard every year with all our family and it’s one of my favorite traditions.
- Pumpkin Carving – My kiddos used to hate doing this one, but now that they’re older, we love turning it into a contest.
- Board Games – We enjoy escape rooms and puzzle-type games. Some of our favorites are Clue Escape and Ravensburger Escape Puzzle.
- Baking – We do this all year round but its even more special this time of the year. Anything with apples, we are baking it.
- Crafting – This is a great time to work on handmade Christmas gifts, diy home decorations, and scrapbooks. I stock up on art supplies so we are prepared for all the crafting fun. Thank goodness my kids still love to make projects with me and individually.
Fall Decorating Ideas
I’m really looking forward to transforming my home into a cozy, warm space.
- Warm Lighting – Use fairy lights, lanterns, and candles to create a cozy atmosphere.
- Plaid Throws and Pillows – I might have a problem when it comes to buying pillow covers and throws! I’m still on the hunt for the perfect throw for our movie nights.
- Pumpkins and Gourds – Scatter them around your home and porch for a festive touch. Real or fake it doesn’t matter. I have and love them both!
- Autumn Wreaths – I have not found a wreath that I love and doesn’t attract birds for my front door.
- Candles – Fall candles are a must—anything that smells like cinnamon, apples, or woodsy vibes will be burning all day.
