As we embark on another exciting homeschool year, our family is eager to dive into a curriculum filled with hands-on projects, engaging books, and interactive learning experiences. Here’s a glimpse into the subjects and resources we’ll be exploring this year.
This blog post is about our homeschool family subjects.
Language Arts: Read Aloud Revival
This year, we’re thrilled to use the Read Aloud Revival for our language arts program. Sarah Mackenzie’s premium program is a treasure trove of resources, offering not just great books but also activities, discussion questions, recipes, copywork, and more. The emphasis on reading aloud and engaging with literature as a family aligns perfectly with our educational philosophy. We’re looking forward to the enriching discussions and creative projects that will come from this program.
Math: Hands-On Projects and Games
In place of a traditional math curriculum, we are opting for a more interactive approach. Our math studies will be centered around hands-on projects and engaging activities, including:
- Mark Twain Math Projects workbook: This resource offers a variety of practical math projects that make learning both fun and relevant.
- Math Art and Drawing Games for Kids by Karyn Tripp: Combining creativity with math, this book provides numerous activities that help children see the artistic side of mathematics.
- The Math of a Milkshake by Katie Steckles: This book explores math concepts through fun, real-world applications.
Additionally, our collection of math-themed board games will continue to be a main part of our daily activities.
History: The Story of the World Volume 2
For history, we will continue our journey through Susan Wise Bauer’s The Story of the World Volume 2. With accompanying maps, activities, and review questions, it’s a comprehensive resource that makes history enjoyable for my boys. They request it every year.
Geography: Road Trip USA
Our geography studies will be guided by Confessions of a Homeschooler’s Road Trip USA curriculum. This program takes us on a journey across the United States, exploring each state’s geography, landmarks, and culture. With a blend of worksheets, activities, recipes and crafts, it’s a fun and interesting way to learn about our country.

Spanish: Talkbox Mom
Learning a new language together as a family is an adventure we’re eagerly anticipating. We will be using Talkbox Mom to guide us through our Spanish studies. This immersive program encourages speaking from day one, helping us integrate Spanish into our daily lives through practical, real-world usage.
We look forward to sharing more about our experiences and the exciting projects we undertake throughout the year. Here’s to a year of exploration, discovery, and growth!
