Our summer homeschool plans are shaping up to be a blend of adventure, learning, and family fun. First and foremost, I believe in making learning fun and engaging for my children. Rather than forcing them to sit at a desk and complete worksheets all day, I try to incorporate hands-on activities and real-world experiences into our curriculum.
Survival Camp
One of the cornerstones of our summer curriculum is Bear Grylls’ survival camp and adventures books. These books provide not only valuable survival skills but also a sense of adventure and resilience that we hope to instill in our children. We are using the Survival Unit Study Guide from The Waldock Way as our main resource. My boys love learning how to build a shelter and how to identify edible plants.

Science
In addition to our survival adventures, we’re diving into the world of engineering with the Awesome Engineering Activities for Kids book. This hands-on guide is packed with fun and educational activities that will challenge us to think creatively and solve problems like real engineers. From building bridges to designing paper airplanes, we’ll be exploring the principles of engineering in a fun and interactive way.
Art
To add a creative touch to our summer homeschool plans, we’re incorporating Living Art Lessons from Masterbooks. This curriculum combines art history with hands-on art projects, allowing us to explore the works of great artists while developing our own artistic skills. I really enjoy how easy this resource is with its short lessons. My boys are really enjoying this one!

Family Fun
We’re also incorporating The Adventure Challenge Family Edition book into our summer plans. This book is filled with exciting and unique challenges that will push us out of our comfort zones and create lasting memories. From trying new foods to exploring our local area, we’re excited to have these adventures together as a family.
Another important aspect of our summer homeschooling plan is staying consistent with our daily routine. While we may have a more relaxed schedule during the summer, I still believe in setting aside specific times for reading, writing, and math practice.

In between our adventures and learning activities, we’ll be spending plenty of time outside, soaking up the sun and enjoying nature. Of course, no summer homeschool plan would be complete without plenty of time for reading and playing board games.
