By June 12, 2021 June 14th, 2021 No Comments

A new school year is upon us and my 3rd and 4th grade curriculum choices have arrived! I’ve watched a tons of homeschool youtube curriculum videos and I think this might be my favorite year yet! There are so many fun options to choose from or create that I had a hard time narrowing things down. As year round homeschoolers we only take a short Summer break and then we get right back to work. I’ve changed up our schedule in hopes to help us stay on track but still enjoy our first Summer living near family.

(2021 -2022) 3rd Grade and 4th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices

MORNING WORK

For an easy morning activity we will be using My Calendar Notebook. This is a simple way to teach the boys how to track different weather patterns as well as learning the months of the year.

BIBLE – FAMILY SUBJECT

I wanted to try a new Bible curriculum this year and I’m really excited about what Charolotte Mason has to offer. This year I picked Joshua-Malachi & Ancient Greece . I added The Stuff They Left Behind – From the Days of Ancient Greece art prints to go along with our lessons. Two recommended books we grabbed was Then and Now Bible Maps and The Big Picture Bible Timeline

I also added the Bible Infographics for Kids and Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps, and Time Lines as additional resources for the whole family. I really want my kids to learn how to study the Bible and not just read without diving deeper.

MATH

For math we will continue to work through Mathseeds (online curriculum) I ordered a few extra resources from Amazon to help the boys: Math Fun for Minecrafters, Times Table A Pull-the-Tab Book, Fun-Schooling Math Mysteries & Practice Problems with Minecraft, Supercool Subtraction Mazes, Awesome Addition Mazes, and Mega Multiplication Mazes

Language Art/ Grammar/Spelling

We will continue learning through Reading Eggs (online curriculum) For extra practice I picked up Writing For Minecrafters (grade 3), The Best and Biggest Fun Workbook for Minecrafters (grade 1&2) I’m using Usborne My First Story Writing Book to help with writing. The Visual Guide to Grammar and Punctuation, Super Grammar and The Know-Nonsense Guide to Grammar will be our spine for learning grammar. For spelling practice we will use Animal Search-a-word Puzzles, My First Crossword Puzzle Book and My First Word Searches. I started ordering picture books like Dearly, Nearly, Insincerely to continue to enforce our lessons.

SCIENCE

For science we are using Sassafras Zoology This Encyclopedia of Animals is one of the required text and we love it already! So far I grabbed Illiuminature and Whose Habitat is That? to go with our animal. I have ordered more animal books to add to our library and will share when they arrive.

HISTORY

I’m using Master Books World Geography and Cultures with the required extra books : Children’s Atlas of God’s World and Passport to the World for history. For extra resources I grabbed Maps and Mapping, Evan-Moor Beginning Geography workbook( beginning map work), DK Our World in Pictures Countries of the World, Wild World, illuminatlas, DK Children Just Like Me, Ready to Read Around the World Collection

ART/MUSIC

Confessions of a Homeschooler has great lapbook curriculums for art and music. We will be using part 1 of World’s Greatest Artist and World’s Greatest Composers. For extras I ordered Can You Hear It?, Get Into Art – Animals, The Art Book for Children, and Welcome to the Symphony

SPANISH

Finally teaching the boys Spanish and using SongSchool Spanish. I’m using The Usborne Book of Everyday Words in Spanish for extra practice.

Additional Learning Resources

This Summer I’m planning to work through The Waldocks Way Survival School curriculum and The Food Notebook based on the book Food Anatomy by Julia Rothman.

Watch this video to see all of our current selections laid out for you. It may look like a lot but we wont be using everything everyday. I just enjoy the idea of having a buffet of goodies for us to flip through at any time.

It’s gonna be a fun full year and I’m excited about all our picks and changes we will be making. Let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of our picks or what you might want to add to your new school year!
