Can you believe it’s that time of the year already? The days are getting shorter, and the crispness in the air hints at the arrival of our favorite season – fall. And you know what fall brings with it, right? The heartwarming and cherished tradition in our household – Thankmas! 🍂🍁

This post is about our Thankmas: Fall Family Tradition.

A Slice of Our Family’s Thankmas Tradition

I’m beyond excited to open up and share with you our annual Thankmas celebration. Every September 1st, our family comes together to create a blend of gratitude and the cozy anticipation of fall – it’s a day that’s become the highlight of our year. It’s starts in September with out kickoff but last until New Years day. Every month has a theme of service, prayer, thankfulness, or family. These activities are open to any family member but usually just involve my household. You can learn more about it in this video.

A Feast to Warm the Soul

Our dining table adorned with scrumptious delights, and the air carrying the inviting aroma of simmering chili. Yes, you guessed it right – chili is our Thankmas signature dish, the hearty beginning to our festivities that never fails to make us feel at home.

But hold on, it gets even better! Our dessert spread features an array of apple and pumpkin treats that make taste buds sing. Think gooey apple crisps and velvety pumpkin pies!

From Gratitude to Unity

Beyond the delightful food, Thankmas is a time for heartfelt conversations. We gather together, bow our heads, and share the things we’re most grateful for. This tradition of acknowledging our blessings reminds us of the importance of Jesus our savior, family, love, and unity, especially in a world that moves so swiftly. It’s also a great time to talk about other activities we would like to do as a group this season. I usually email everyone a google doc with different ideas and they can vote on what they want to do. The activities with the most votes are the ones we try to schedule over the next 4 months. This year I decided to create a printable and hand it out to everyone on Thankmas. We always have a medley of games that bring out our competitive sides and create everlasting memories. Whether it’s lively board games or playful outdoor activities, this time is all about celebrating life’s simple joys.

Embracing the Fall Spirit

The anticipation of what fall has in store, the vibrant colors of autumn leaves, more celebrations together and cozy sweaters makes me feel like I’m wrapped in a warm embrace. Thankmas is more than just a tradition; it’s a reminder to cherish every moment, express gratitude, and relish the connections that truly matter.

Wishing you all a Thankmas season filled with love, laughter, and a touch of pumpkin spice!
